About Custom Lights

Built around a genuine passion for cars, Custom lights grew from an initial idea and has been growing ever since.

Growing up with a car-mad Dad meant, as a family, we were always surrounded, literally, by cars, from a 1937 Ford model Y to a 2018 Ford Focus.

Almost every car he had owned, he kept.

We were lucky in that we had the space to work on, fix up, repair and generally tinker with our vehicles and always have the advice and tools from Dad,(if you could find them !)

This interest in cars bought me to my apprenticeship at Rolls Royce and Bentley and later working at Aston Martin and Jaguar cars.

After a few bugs, I eventually found a doer-upper of a splitty and with the help of Dad, we trailered it home and began a slow restoration.

Custom Lights started during this restoration as I wanted an upgrade to the tiny lights fitted as standard to my 1959 splitty. As these buses had semaphores and only a dual function side/stop tail light, I looked into alternatives to improve the safety and brightness of the lights without the need to bolt-on additional lighting. The last thing I wanted was for someone to run into the back of my freshly restored bus due to not seeing my lights or my flashers/semaphores. After installing and getting the bus through the MOT, I attended a local VW show and at the show someone said ” They’re cool, you should start making them, mate” and the rest is history.

Here at Custom Lights we are always looking at fresh ideas and improvements to vehicles with poor or just not very effective lighting and this can be applied to any vehicle, inside or outside.

From Vintage, Classic or modern vehicles, just about anything can be improved or given the Custom Lights treatment.
